What is SPACE10?

SPACE10 is a research and design lab on a mission to create a better everyday life for people and the planet — proudly supported and entirely dedicated to IKEA. We solve diverse, complex challenges with partners and collaborators across the world. 

Our team is made up of 28 value-driven people with diverse skill sets from 13 countries. What is the role?

We are searching for an experienced Editor & Copywriter to join our team in Copenhagen. The ideal candidate has a passion for storytelling in all its forms and is an experienced project manager of their own work. You will report directly to our Communications Director, Simon Caspersen.

What we want in an Editor & Copywriter

You will be at the heart of all things storytelling at SPACE10 and ensure that how we communicate informs and inspires people towards action. You will be responsible for unfolding SPACE10 projects, vision, method, and areas of interest in multiple formats and ensuring our website is up to date and on point.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a passion for multi-format editorial storytelling and a deep interest in design, technology and the environment. The ideal candidate also enjoys working both autonomously on writing and editing tasks; and with a multidisciplinary in-house team on launching new projects, exhibitions and events, and on expanding our network of external writers and creatives. 

Your responsibilities

  • Writing and editing all editorial storytelling at SPACE10
  • Unfolding SPACE10 projects, vision, method and areas of interest in multiple formats
  • Developing the editorial profile of SPACE10 through different formats and collaborators
  • Ensuring the SPACE10 website is up to date and on point

Your qualifications

  • Native English speaker
  • Minimum 5 years professional copywriting, journalistic and/or editing experience with a solid portfolio of output
  • Technical skills: Copywriting; Research; Fact-checking; Google Apps; Wordpress; Social media management
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills and multitasking ability
  • Critical thinking
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to fluidly switch between writing styles and approaches on a day-to-day basis. (For example, you should be comfortable with producing a journalistic article as well as engaging social media headlines)
  • (Preferred) Creative strategy or concept development experience
  • (Preferred) Experience leading an editorial team
  • (Preferred) Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or other related disciplines

Please submit your CV, a brief cover letter on why SPACE10 and what you can bring and three of your favorite examples of your own editorial work. Candidates who move onto the assignment phase will be compensated with a flat fee of €400. Applications will be considered on an ongoing basis.

  • Assignment activity shared: 5 May

  • Assignment deadline: 9 May, 14.00 CET

  • Final interviews (TBD): 17 May (remote)

  • Final decision: 18 May

  • Preferred job start date: 1 July or ASAP

What we offer

A full-time contract with 5 weeks paid vacation, unlimited sick days and 5 additional paid days off per year. You’ll be provided an Apple computer, AirPods, and an iPhone and phone plan. Every day, we share vegan lunch.
