What is SPACE10?

SPACE10 is a research and design lab on a mission to create a better everyday life for people and the planet — proudly supported and entirely dedicated to IKEA. We solve diverse, complex challenges with partners and collaborators across the world.

Our team is made up of 27 value-driven people with diverse skill sets from 13 countries. What is the role?

We are searching for a Product & Program Manager to lead one of our research and design programs to develop concepts that are relevant to our goals in markets of interest such as Mexico, Indonesia, Kenya or their surrounding/nearby countries.

You will report directly to our COO, Daniel Friis.

Why is the role important?

As Product & Program Manager, you will play a key role by facilitating 7 to 10 projects within our research & design program focusing on affordable living solutions for the Global South. You will work closely with a team of researchers, strategists and producers to develop innovative concepts that aim to elevate everyday life for people. The work you will do with your team will directly inform future product offerings and localised plans for IKEA to provide affordable living solutions.

You will lead by continuously defining, refining and clarifying program strategy. By building strategic partnerships within IKEA, you will know how to best execute the realisation of our products and programs while confidently managing your team. You will keep both internal and external stakeholders regularly updated on progress. Every SPACE10 team member plays a crucial role in identifying new opportunities for their relevant field and the lab as a whole. 

What we want in a Product & Program Manager:

We’re looking for someone with experience working in the product development industry at the intersection of strategy and design. You will play a key role in moving projects thoughtfully from concept to integration while remaining within budget and on time. You have a flair for keeping the big picture and are self-motivated while thriving in team settings. A strategic mindset and experience working in the development sector and Global South regions (such as South East Asia, Africa, South Asia and Latin America) will benefit you greatly in this role. 

Success looks like:

  • A program anchored strongly in IKEA with an identified receiving team and demonstrated growing competencies with IKEA.

  • One or two products placed on the shelf in Global South new markets within a year.
  • You have created new product practices and enabled fast track development of new solutions within IKEA.

Your qualifications:

  • Demonstrated industry experience in managing diverse teams up to 10 people by facilitating and considering each team member’s input.
  • Proven fluency in leading a product process from conception to market while navigating many nuanced constraints.
  • A compelling CV of work that demonstrates a variety of designing and developing products with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellence in project management of timeline, budget, stakeholders, risks and when to engage the right stakeholders at the right time in order to get things done.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and Slack.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to get your message across and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Professional fluency in English.
  • Experience working as an entrepreneur or in a startup environment is a plus.

What we offer:

A full-time contract with 5 weeks' vacation, unlimited sick days and 5 paid days off per year. You’ll be provided an Apple computer, AirPods and an iPhone and phone plan. Every day, we share vegan lunch.
